In our discussions with management groups, frontline staff and people in general – there is always a focus on what’s around the corner. With today’s economic future so unsure, everyone at some stage asks the question, “what would I do if something else came along“. Although the job market is fairly soft – especially here in Tasmania, the question still remains – “what would I do if someone offered me a job today”.

We’ve been using data collected from 10 years ago in our discussion of reward and satisfaction – much of which is still relevant, but the importance level of some has to be measured and re-assessed – because things have changed in the last 10 years – in some cases significantly.

The Third Space

Every now and then we are fortunate enough to stumble upon something that just hits he mark. Recently I was flicking through an Innovation magazine (a new Australian publication) and came across an article about a new concept by a gentleman by the name of Dr Adam Fraser – The 3rd Space, an approach towards managing the micro transitions we all have in between activities (or spaces) every day.

The Third Space focuses on 3 key stages: Reflect, Rest and Reset.

Adam shares his research into how each of these stages can be used to have a massive impact on our quality of life in general, our capacity as a manager or leader, or just the ability to be more effective in daily tasks.

Across all of the workshops delivered through Forte – currently our section introducing people to the third space techniques receives the most enthusiastic feedback!

This month we met with Leesa from Leesa Harrison Photography at Hobart Imaging for a photo shoot. Now one of the inherent qualities of a professional facilitator is confidence and a general welcoming of the limelight!

So bring on the moment in the spot light!

Leesa was able to direct on placement & positioning – with the benefit of white and black backdrops, creating a range of shots for a variety of purposes. Lights, camera .. and Smile!

Professional images are essential when your service revolves around you. People need to see and associate with the person they are going to deal with. A picture tells 1000 words, more like 10,000! and as such the images taken need to represent who you are.

Advance – Leadership Training

Our discussions with CEO’s and managers in the Not for Profit sector has identified a need for management training for frontline managers and people aspiring to be frontline managers. However, you told us that you were looking for something a little different. You spoke to us about the changes to your businesses, the challenges ahead and that you are looking for training that encompasses both leadership and management aspects to grow your future leaders.

With this in mind, Ros from Shaping Change and Nic from Forte have collaborated to bring you a program that does what you have asked for. We recognise that there is no “one size fits all”, so we are offering a range of solutions under the banner of Advance Leadership Training.

The flagship program is a 12 month Certificate IV/Diploma in Management, but it isn’t a standard “run of the mill” Diploma. We are bringing you a mix of higher order leadership training and the fundamental building blocks of management, over 10 modules, with assessments to enhance and support both the content and intent of the course.

To assist you with the costs of the training, your people may be eligible for Australian Government funding of up to $3000 per person.

For those who do not wish to enroll in the entire 10 module program we also offer the flexibility of single modules as stand-alone courses. Of course, you can enroll in as many as you wish. We also offer the option of the full program without the Diploma.
